Submission

The Ethics Committee reviews research projects conducted at the University Hospitals of Karl Landsteiner Private University. If you are in doubt as to which ethics committee you should submit your project to, please send an enquiry to ethikkommission@kl.ac.at. In general, the competence depends on the origin of the patients, patient data and samples.

The documents must be submitted online within the submission deadline of the respective ethics committee meeting.

After formally complete submission (confirmation of receipt by the Ethics Committee), the application form completed online must be downloaded in pdf format and, provided with all necessary signatures, handed in to the Ethics Committee office (KL Ethics Committee P.O. Box in Trakt X-EG) by the Thursday before the respective meeting day at the latest. All other documents are only required electronically.

Assessment

The result of the review by the committee members and, if applicable, the statement of the applicants form the basis for discussion and decision-making by the ethics committee.

Meeting and vote

The meeting is not public. Decisions are made in the absence of the applicants. Commission members who are biased do not vote. The applicants will be informed of the result of the deliberations after the meeting.

If changes to the protocol, patient information, etc. are deemed necessary during the meeting, the applicants are requested to upload these online as soon as possible. The documents are to be submitted in a corrected version and in a cleaned-up version. 

Annual renewal, final report and report on the completion of a study:

A positive decision of the Ethics Committee shall be valid for one year from the date of issue. If necessary, the applicant:in shall apply for an extension of the validity of the positive vote in due time.

Amendments and other notifications will be accepted and dealt with at any time (without a deadline for submission).
