A mechanically validated open-source silicone model for the training of gastric perforation sewing

Recent publication

The University Hospitals of St. Pölten and Krems, Karl Landsteiner University and Vienna University of Technology have collaborated to develop a silicone model as a training tool for suturing gastric perforations. The freely available open-source model consists of three different silicone materials to simulate real tissue properties as well as possible. The model has been tested by experienced surgeons and is easy and inexpensive to reproduce.

The research paper has been published open access in the journal "BMC Medical Education".
